Xbox360 install to hard drive?

So i got NBA 2K10 and somehow it got a little chip in it and so i rented it and installed it to my hard drive because i head all you gotta do is install it then put the scratched disk in and it will work but i installed it and i put in my chipped disk and it still says unreadable and it wont play.if you can help me that would be great
