Do you know short story, A & P by John Updike?

It has been years since I read the story, but as I recall, the theme is basically a young man discovers something about himself -- something he understands is always going to make his life difficult. What is that thing? When read it, I remember thinking it was that he would put girls ahead of self-interest. In other words, he's a fool for love.
