Statistically, very few people travel more than 50 miles from home. Why do you suppose that is?

I have traveled extenstively throughout the USA, Mexico, parts of Canada and over to Italy. For a season I lived on the East coast and was very surprised at the number of people I met who had not traveled more than 50 miles from their homes. Life is far too short to not see and experience other places and cultures, and I am even more amazed that curiosity wouldn't send more out their doors... It is a trend that needs to be changed. Because getting outside of your own little world enhances your perspective of life.
