Are muscians tapping into cosmic energy when they improvise?

I'm a musician myself, and sometimes I have experienced a moment during a guitar solo where the entire audience is captivated, and I myself watch myself play in a detached way - I'm even awestruck at what my fingers are playing. It's like we are all third-party viewers of my guitar playing. I've experienced this as both musician and audience member (Trey from Phish did it, so did Jerry, Jimi, and others). I really feel like I'm tapping into another energy out there... does anyone have any thoughts on this? A friend and I think that we are tapping into other dimensions, or perhaps our brain is picking up cosmic rays that enter our atmosphere, and the cosmic rays are freely modulating our brain waves, resulting in music that even I do not create.
